Summer in the Shade
Northern Arizona thunderstorms generally build up
over the San Francisco Peaks first, especially in
the rainy monsoon season of late summer. The
rains and shade from the aspen trees provide for a
lush understory on the mountain. Near Viet Spring,
these Bracken Ferns and Silver Lupine are thriving
and truly have it made in the Shade.
